Black History Month Activity
Throughout the month, the students learned about famous about famous African-Americans who have made remarkable contributions to our society. Throughout February, students participated in a writing and art contest. The art contest was open to students in grades PK-3 and the writing contest was open to students in grades 1st - 3rd. Winners have been chosen for each grade level and will be announced at our Black History Program on Friday, February 24. This program is for students only due to the limited space we have.
To end our Black History Month activities, we are going to allow the students to wear the colors symbolic of Black History Month on this Friday, February 24th. These colors are red, black, and green. Students may wear a red, black or green shirt to school with their uniform bottoms. Any shirt that is worn may not have offensive or suggestive writing on it. Students may not wear jeans! Please call the school if you have any questions. Thanks for your cooperation and support!

UPDATE ON PROPOSED CHANGES FOR EHE
February 20, 2017
To all parents/guardians:
Recently, we held a parent meeting on Monday, February 6, 2017 to discuss proposed changes to East Houma Elementary School for the 2017-2018 school year. The change that was discussed was a merger between East Houma Elementary and Village East Middle School, which would result in our schools combining to form a K-6th grade school.
At this point, our superintendent, Philip Martin, has decided that these proposed changes may not take place until the 2018-2019 school year. Thank you for your attendance at the meeting, and any input that you offered during this discussion. We appreciate all of our parents, and we value your input as we provide the very best education for your child. Should you have any questions, please contact me at the school numbers.
